    Best Time to Visit

September through November when the parks are a riot of color, Toronto Island’s beaches are at their most pleasant and TIFF kicks off.

    What to Pack

Surprisingly, a bathing suit – though at Hanlan’s Point beach you won’t even need that. Plus gear for activities like kayaking, canoeing or hiking. Canada is all about the outdoors.

    General Tips

It may not be the capital, but the plethora of art establishments here outstrips anything else in Canada, with over 50 dance companies, two orchestras, six opera companies and a vibrant theater scene. The extraordinary “The Crystal” by Daniel Libeskind fronts the must-see Royal Ontario Museum, while nearby in Yorkville, The Gardiner Museum is devoted to ceramics. The Bata Shoe Museum is equally unique, and other highlights include the Museum of Inuit Art and Toronto Sculpture Garden.

Toronto’s most renowned arts event is TIFF, a leading film festival held each September that has a permanent home at TIFF Bell Lightbox. The semi-outdoor Molson Ampitheatre is the place for music concerts, or visitors may like to schedule their trip for the summer Dream in High Park, for open-air productions of Shakespeare by the Canadian Stage Company.
